Waynesboro is the place to be if you enjoy festivals. We host the Virginia Fly Fishing Festival in April, one of the largest Soap Box Derbies in the nation, the Virginia Fall Foliage Festival and the Shenandoah Antiques Expo. Artists in the Streets and Riverfest also provide a wide range of activities and events.
And Waynesboro is in Wine Country! World-class vineyards, many with tours and tasting rooms, are a short drive away. Jim and Kay would be happy to help you create your own wine trail itinerary. Learn more by watching a video about Virginia Wines.
Waynesboro is a Virginia MainStreet community and a Virginia Historic District. Whether you're looking for arts and cultural centers, great restaurants, shops or museums, the pedestrian-friendly environment of downtown Waynesboro is where you'll find it all.
At the Speckled Trout B&B, you are only five minutes from Exit 96 or 94 off I-64 for an easy interstate commute to Staunton, Charlottesville, Lexington or Harrisonburg. Map
Want To Go Fishing?
The Shenandoah Valley is well known for its fly-fishing and boasts a diversity of trout streams ranging from freestone mountain creeks to limestone streams to spring creeks. The Shenandoah National Park holds the best stock of wild brook trout in the southern Appalachians. Fly-fishermen can fish the Valley's small streams holding brook, rainbow and brown trout.
The Speckled Trout B&B has partnered with three of the finest fly-fishing shops in the area (South River Fly Shop, Albemarle Angler and Mossy Creek Fly Fishing) and can arrange for both fly-fishing instruction and guiding services. Your innkeeper, Jim Heafner, who is also a serious fly-fisherman, can assist you with directions to the area's best fishing. The South River is only a couple of blocks away from the B&B. Private waters are also available. Fly-tying equipment and materials can be made available upon request.
